During select dates from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Northerly Island will be hosting “Snowtrekking on Snowshoes,” a special event series featuring fun winter activities. Participants can look for winter birds, native animals, or enjoy the incredible views of the Chicago skyline from the island. Fun family-friendly activities will also be offered, such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowball fights. The event is free, but costs $5 to check out snowshoe equipment for two hours (available on a first-come, first-served basis with a valid I.D.). The event is only held if there is at least three inches of snow. For more information or to verify if weather conditions are good for Snowtrekking, call Northerly Islands Park at (312) 745-2910.
